Outfit Tracker Template: Log What You Wear (Free Layout)
A good outfit tracker template only needs five columns: the date, the formula you wore, your detail, a 1-5 score for how you felt, and a short note. Fill in one row a day, then look back once a week to spot what you rate highest. That's how an outfit log stops being a list and starts showing you your actual style.
If you have a closet full of clothes but no idea which outfits really work for you, Your Era names what's keeping your style stuck and saves the looks you love to a style diary. Find my era
Why track outfits at all
Most outfit tracker templates online are pretty spreadsheets with no instructions. They tell you where to write, not what to learn. Here's what tracking actually does for you:
- Shows your real favorites. Not the outfits you save, the ones you feel good in.
- Finds dead weight. Pieces that never make it into a row are clues.
- Stops repeat mistakes. You'll notice "every time I wear this top, I score it a 2."
- Makes planning faster. You can build next week from your highest-rated rows.
- Shows your style over time. A month of rows is more honest than any Pinterest board.
Think of it as an outfit diary with numbers.
What to log (5 columns)
Keep it short or you'll stop after four days. These five columns are enough.
1. Date
Just the date and, if you want, the day of the week. Days matter because you'll often find you dress differently on Mondays versus Fridays.
2. Formula
Write the outfit's shape, not every item. Use base + layer:
- "Jeans + white tee + overshirt"
- "Wide pants + knit + cardigan"
- "Sweatshirt + shorts"
Formulas are what repeat, so tracking them shows which ones work.
3. Detail
The finishing touch: rings, a belt, a clip, a cap, a color. Over time this column shows whether you already have a signature detail.
4. Score (1-5)
How did you feel in it, not how it looked in the mirror at 7 a.m.
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 5 | Felt like the most me. Would wear again tomorrow. |
| 4 | Good. Didn't think about it once. |
| 3 | Fine. Nothing special. |
| 2 | Kept adjusting it or wishing I'd changed. |
| 1 | Wanted to go home and change. |
5. Note
One line. "Too hot by noon." "Got a compliment on the jacket." "Sleeves annoying." That's it.

Copy this into any app or notebook. It's a free outfit tracker template you can use as is.
| Date | Formula | Detail | Score | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 9/28 | Jeans + striped tee + denim jacket | Silver rings | 4 | Comfy, good for school |
| Tue 9/29 | Wide pants + black knit + cardigan | Hair clip | 5 | Felt put together |
| Wed 9/30 | Sweatshirt + bike shorts | White socks | 2 | Too sloppy for my day |
| Thu 10/1 | Jeans + white tee + overshirt | Silver rings | 5 | Got a compliment |
| Fri 10/2 | Cargo pants + fitted tee + hoodie | Cap | 3 | Fine |
Optional extra columns if you want more:
- Weather (to see what works when it's hot or rainy)
- Occasion (school, weekend, event)
- Photo link (a mirror pic in your camera roll)
- Cost per wear (only if you like numbers)
For a full wardrobe inventory spreadsheet, keep that on a separate tab. Mixing "every item I own" with "what I wore today" makes both harder to use.
Paper, Notes app or spreadsheet
The best outfit tracker is the one you'll actually open. Here's how the options compare.
Paper outfit tracker (printable)
Draw the five columns in a notebook or print the table above. Great if you like writing things down, but harder to sort later.
Notes app
One note, one line per day: "9/28 | jeans + striped tee + denim jacket | rings | 4 | comfy." Fast and always on your phone.
Outfit tracker spreadsheet (Google Sheets or Excel)
Best if you want to sort by score or count how often you wear a formula. In Google Sheets or Excel, put the five columns in row 1, then use a filter to show only 4s and 5s. That filtered list is your "what actually works" list.
Notion
An outfit tracker in Notion works well if you already use it. Make a database with the five properties and a gallery view with photos.
An outfit tracker app
Some apps let you log outfits with photos. The tradeoff is you usually have to photograph or upload your clothes first.
The hard part, whatever format you pick, is the stuff the template can't do for you: coming up with a good outfit on a tired morning, and being honest about why a look worked.
Your Era handles that half. After the unlock, you get a daily era drop: one look built from clothes you already own, with a note on why it works and one optional swap. Save the drops you love to your style diary and keep your streak going, so your best looks are already logged. Find my era
How to review weekly
A tracker you never read is just homework. Every Friday or Sunday, take five minutes:
- Circle every 5. What do they have in common? Same formula? Same color? Same detail?
- Look at every 1 or 2. Is one piece showing up again and again? That piece might be the problem.
- Count formulas. Which did you wear most? Which did you score highest? (They aren't always the same.)
- Check the detail column. If one detail keeps appearing in your 5s, that's your signature.
- Plan one change. "Next week, wear the cardigan formula twice."
After a month, you'll have a clear picture of your style. Use those high-scoring formulas to plan outfits for the week. If you want to add a few lines of writing to your log, see what a style diary is or grab some fashion journal prompts.
Start with outfits worth tracking
An outfit tracker template shows you what works, but it's much easier when the outfits already fit who you are now. The Your Era quiz is 17 questions, about two minutes and no account, and it names which of 7 problems is keeping your style stuck. The unlock adds a daily look and a style diary with saved drops and a streak.
FAQ
What should I put in an outfit tracker?
Five columns are enough: date, formula, detail, a 1-5 score and a short note. Add weather or occasion if you want more detail. Keep it simple so you actually fill it in every day.
Is there a free outfit tracker app?
There are several outfit tracker apps, some free. You can also make a free outfit tracker in your Notes app or Google Sheets using the layout above. Your Era's quiz is free, and its style diary (part of the one-time unlock) saves the daily looks you like.
How do I make an outfit tracker in Google Sheets?
Put Date, Formula, Detail, Score and Note in row 1, then add one row per day. Use a filter on the Score column to show only 4s and 5s. That filtered view is your list of outfits that work.
What's the difference between an outfit tracker and a wardrobe inventory spreadsheet?
A wardrobe inventory spreadsheet lists every item you own. An outfit tracker logs what you wore each day and how it felt. The tracker is more useful for finding your style; the inventory is useful for decluttering.
How long should I track my outfits?
Try it for at least four weeks. That's usually enough rows to see which formulas and details you rate highest. After that, many people just track their favorites.
